Meet Yoon Ahn, One of the Most Influential Designers to Come Out of Seattle

Before she was shaping global streetwear, Yoon Ahn was absorbing the grit and grunge of the Seattle suburbs, a place that quietly forged one of fashion’s most influential designers.

Yoon Ahn was born in South Korea but was raised primarily in the Seattle Suburbs. Her upbringing in the Seattle suburbs influenced her interest in fashion, which was heavily shaped by the city’s dominant grunge culture at the time.

After moving from Seattle to Tokyo in 2003, she immersed herself in the city’s club and music scenes and discovered jewelry as a form of self-expression.

After founding Ambush, her bold and graphic “POW!” pieces quickly caught the attention of major celebrities, propelling the brand into the global spotlight.

As Ambush expanded, Ahn’s distinctive design language gained the interest of major fashion houses. In 2018, Kim Jones appointed her as the Jewelry Director for Dior Men.

Ahn and Ambush have also collaborated with some of the world’s most influential names, including Nike, Converse, Gentle Monster, Moët & Chandon, and Louis Vuitton, further solidifying her presence in both fashion and luxury.

Today, Ahn continues to evolve Ambush while revisiting elements from its early archives, blending customization, cultural influence, and experimental metalwork. Her journey reflects a path that began in Seattle’s creative underground and led to a defining role in global fashion.
